Birthdays...
Nice to start blogging thinking of this special day. Seems like a gift to me... Never fails to remind me of the fun birthdays, we, my brother and I, had when we were in school. We looked forward to the D or should I say B day... Whose cares if you are a year older(so unlike now... ;) )? I remember the shopping trips in the then Madras heat to buy new clothes, wear it to school, distribute chocolates, fight for the last chocolate left in the box. Much more than that, I loved the party, mum used to throw for us! No homework! What could be greater than that? Yippee!
We never forgot to remind her a month in advance. But, she was always ahead of us in plan mode, if I can call it that. She would make invitations with cartoon characters, have us color it, write them out and then distribute it to the neighbours a week before. Then, on the B-Day, she would bake a chocolate cake in some shape, maybe a butterfly or a clock, frost it. For the party, she would arrange games, goody bags, high tea, prizes... It used to be so much fun! I miss those days, even more, now, that I am far, far away from home and have long passed those days! Now, I have to plan these events for my little one hoping that I will also give her great times to think back upon like my mum did for me...
