Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays!
The holiday cheer is in the air. Everyone, especially me, is looking forward to the holiday vacation that is coming up. Though the weather is bleak and cold, the spirit is high. Greens with bright red ribbons, the bouncing inflatables with the 'artificial' snow inside, light in the shape of reindeer, snowmen, Santa... It is so beautiful as the sun sets. A few weeks back, I was sad the sun set at 3 in the afternoon, but, now I look forward to the dark nights.
I am planning to decorate my house too in the days that come (Crossing my fingers that it should be before Christmas! :) ). Christmas Trees, Stockings, bells, angels, greens, poinsettias, holly, anything that is Christmas. I will miss hanging up the star though and setting up the manger scene (This was my favorite thing to do!).
Today, being a lazy day at work, I was reminded of the Christmas vacations spent with my cousins. When we visited 'Thathi', as we used to fondly call my grandma, my brother and I eagerly waited to see the color of the Christmas dress she would gift us! It was always a pant-shirt combo for little bro and a traditional silk 'pavadai-chattai' for me. Getting the dress stitched to size, trying them on, getting adjustments done, dressing up for church on the D-day was so much fun. Much later, when we had grown, it was nice to just get together as a family and sit around the table and chat or prepare for a gala dinner party in the evening. How we looked forward to getting gifts! One from each aunt or uncle. Now, we have moved from even that and are so far apart that we are celebrating this day all by ourselves with just a minute's call to wish each other!
Maybe, next year will be different and we can get together as one big happy family again! This year, I hope to make just as fun as it always has been for me!! :)
