Eat Cake!

I have been wanting to post a picture of the Christmas cake I baked for my colleagues for so long and never got around to doing it! :( You can see how proud I am of it... I am showing off! ;)

Well, wait no more, here it is... presenting, my creation of the decade...

It's a double layer chocolate cake with "perfectly" chocolate frosting with a caramel glaze. Sounds like a chef, right? But, it wasn't hard at all. Infact, made 3 of these cakes, so that dad and the little one could enjoy too!!

Dad, usually fusses to eat cake. Keeps muttering something about calories and fat and some unhealthy stuff which I pretend not to understand! ;) But, this cake, he just kept eating... Just heard the words "aweshum" between mouthfuls of cake and I presume he meant awesome. :)

That was praise enough for me...

My mum used to bake cakes for tea often. My brother and I used to love it. She made the best cakes ever! Her chocolates cakes were perfect. Always. The best part was licking the bowl. Yumm... My brother and I used to help her bake the cake just to lick the bowls!! :) She let us do that because then we didn't trouble her till the cake finished baking. Sometimes, we were in such a hurry that we used to cut and eat the cake hot out of the oven and burn our tongues in the process... She always reprimanded us saying "Aaka poruthavannuku aara porukalaiyam" meaning one who waited till it was made could not wait till it cooled down! Dear mum!!

I can't wait to try out these new found cooking skills for her and my little brother...
