Story Time...

Dad and I inadvertently chanced upon a story session yesterday. Dad, the little one and I were watching "Planet Earth" on the Discovery Channel last night, pointing out all the wild animals to the little one. She was having a gala time, sitting amidst us on the couch.
I went to the kitchen to fix us dinner, while the little one and Dad continued watching two clans of monkeys fight over territory and a few elephants, lions in the heart of Africa and a little later, some grizzlies fishing for salmon. I was in for a huge surprise as I came back with the food - The little one was so eager to recount all that she had seen and experienced.
Her story line went like this, complete with the background effects - A monkey came. Other monkey came and All Done. Elle (her version of elephant) came, All Done. (At all Done, both palms go up!). Then, some screeching and cooing like a monkey, then a roar like a lion... All Done. Teddy, Fishy, incoherent mumbling, All done. Moo, moo, moo, water, ate. All Done.
So, here's the understandable version of it, for those who did not understand the baby talk due to lack of context - There was a monkey, then came another monkey. They fought and the 2 clans of monkeys broke up (So, All Done!). Then, they showed elephants eating. (So, All done again!). We didn't get the reason for all that sound like a monkey, probably to indicate that the monkeys were fighting... Then, the TV showed lions stretching on a lazy afternoon, so the lion's roar and All Done. Teddy, Fishy was the grizzly fishing for salmon. The moo, moo ate was a scene of an alligator pouncing some wildebeest drinking water from a river...
It was so interesting to hear the whole story which she kept repeating with so much enthusiasm that we were able to record it on tape. We have never seen this side of the little one before and enjoyed it while it lasted as she had forgotten all about it this morning. But, has gone to daycare, vigorously shaking her head up and down when I asked her if she will tell her friend about the monkeys!!
